The FAL's are new to me...

Jarhead,
...and as such I'm still in the process of rounding up or fabricating a receiver wrench for the barrel/receiver mating and learning about the headspacing/the use of pin/go/no-go gauges for determing the locking shoulder sizes. And yes I am over at the FAL Files; oddly enough [heheh] my handle is "DrewBone," LOL! A guy over there by the name of "Gunplumber" [Arizona Response Systems I think is the name of his business?] has a really nice DVD out that covers the entire assembly of the FAL and I'm thinking very strongly about ordering up a copy so I don't hose my shit!
As far as the HB Ozzy setup I understand that alot of the Ozzy light rifle parts will interchange...if I remember correctly I need a gas plug, gas piston & spring, gas valve & spring, um...oh, front sights, and a pistol grip for the Izzy lower. If I manage to score all that I should be throwing lead sometime in the future with one helluva' fRaNkEFAL!
In regards to the new Argy kit and Coonan receiver a quick mock up revealed that I have to chase the barrel threads [new park on them, it's an unmounted new barrel] and maybe remove some material off the barrel shoulder so it times up right to the receiver prior to torqueing to it's final resting place. It should be one fine rifle when completed as the kits from Sarco were absolutely new and yes it's a matching kit with the lower, carrier and bolt all the same number.
Funny, just like I was talking about the other day in regards to the M1A I picked up recently I never had much interest in the FAL's either until about a year ago when a local shop threw one in my face, my DSA StG58. Even though it doesn't have a real StG barrel [plus it's 16" in length too] or metal handguards it's still a badass gun, and runs like a champ.
Geez, this gun shit is quite the disease huh, LOL.
Now, you're into the M1A's - what's your favorite setup? Are you a purist and as such into the original wood & metal or have you gone over to the dark side with the JAE, Sage EBR, VLTOR and Troy stock/chassis type setups? I'm on the fence about it...I kinda' like the JAE stock because it has a nice pistol grip which is more comfortable to me as I have a problem using straight stock rifles like that of the M1 carbine, Garand and M1A. I broke that wrist twice; first time I broke one bone, but the second time I broke both bones and dislocated the joint...what mess that was and as such I simply cannot rotate my wrist downward enough to use the standard trigger finger and that's why I like the pistol grip stocks. But not the E2 for some reason it just doesn't look right no matter what! And the Sage EBR and the Troy setup look like they belong on the side of RoboCop! Oh I dunno...oh well...
Anwyay, please share some of your experiences with the M1A, I know I'll gleen some more much needed information that I'm lacking!
